LIZA GOLDEN-BHOJWANI

Liza Golden-Bhojwani has been one of the most successful models this decade. She's been on the cover of Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. Recently the model shared how struggles with her body weight led her away from the fashion industry and down a difficult path to self-love.

The side-by-side shots are three years apart and feature a picture of Liz during the height of her high-fashion career, when she was publicly praised as one of Vogue's freshman model class of 2013, and her now. Liza explains how she maintained such a low body weight, writing "In 2012 I was having about 500 calories a day." Taking a break from the high-fashion world led to Liza's realisation that body size and weight don't determine her life or her career aspirations, explaining in the caption, "One day I just thought... why am I fighting against my body? Why don't I just go in the same direction? Stop forcing my own agenda and just listen to my body. And that's what I did, slowly slowly I was coming into my true body form. My natural self, not my forced self."

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR CAREER PATH?

"Growing up people always told my mom I should be a model, but it was never her idealcareer path for me. Once I graduated High School and enrolled in a local college where I studied nursing, I was paying for my own education and I was really struggling to make ends meet. So I decided I should give my modelling dream a shot, and it just took off from there."

WHO HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE IN YOUR LIFE?

"It’s hard for me to pin-point any one single person because I draw inspiration from many different peoples journeys and stories."

WHAT DOES BEAUTY MEAN TO YOU?

"Beauty to me is not how beautiful a person is on the outside, but rather how beautiful their personality and character is from the inside. True beauty comes from the heart for me."

YOUR BEST PIECE OF ADVICE FOR YOUNG GIRLS/WOMEN

"Stop trying to be someone you're not. Be yourself, whatever that may be, love it, accept it, and own it. We are all perfectly imperfect and that’s a beautiful thing."

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES TODAY FOR WOMEN?

"The notion that we need to strive for absolute perfection. When the definition of that “perfection” is usually not of our own, but of the minds and the opinions of others."

THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN

 "Never stop chasing your dreams."

IS THERE ANY WOMAN YOU LOOK UP TO

"Meryl Streep, because of how she has achieved all that she has and yet remains so real, humble and grounded."

ON YOUR DAY OFF

"You can find me; at the pool/beach, at the spa, photographing my dogs, cooking, or binge watching my favourite TV shows."

YOUR DAILY BEAUTY ROUTINE

"As a woman with very sensitive skin, I have learned over the years that less is more. I wash my face every AM and PM with Cerave foaming face wash, followed by Avene thermal spring water spray, followed by a mixture of Vitamin E oil and La Roche-Posay Toleriane Riche cream. In terms of makeup, I try not to wear makeup if I don't have any castings or shoots. If I do have castings, I keep it to a bare minimum with a tinted moisturiser, spot concealer, curled lashes, brushed brows, slightly bronzed cheek bones, a nude cream blush, and a clear lip balm."

YOUR BEAUTY/SKINCARE ADVICE

"Listen to your skin. Stay hydrated. Avoid foods that cause your skin to flare up. Always wear sunscreen. Avoid overly fragranced products if you have sensitive or allergy prone skin. Never be ashamed to see a dermatologist!"

YOUR FEEL GOOD INDULGENCE

"A 90 minute massage. Nothing is better than treating your body to the recovery assistance it deserves after working out/working all week."

YOUR FAVOURITE DESTINATION OR HOT SPOT

"You can always find me in Goa, India, but my dream destination is Bora-Bora."
